Draftsman

B.I.D. (Basic Industrial Design) is a custom design and manufacturing team that provides and maintains tailored solutions to our client’s unique business problems.

McDonough Manufacturing is a family-owned manufacturer of custom sawmill machinery with over 130 years of experience, headquartered in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and expanded into Canada in 2017. In 2023, McDonough acquired BID Canada Ltd., a leading company in custom dry bulk material handling solutions. Based in Woodstock, New Brunswick, BID Canada Ltd. designs, manufactures, and installs high-quality equipment for industries including cement, mining, ports, power generation, pulp & paper, and steel. Together, McDonough | BID Canada delivers innovative, in-house solutions to clients across North America and around the world.

We’re looking for a Draftsman with a Mechanical Engineering background to join our engineering team. If you’re skilled in SolidWorks and CAD, have a keen eye for detail, and enjoy turning ideas into precise, practical designs, we’d love to hear from you.


What we’re looking for

  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and other CAD design software.
  • Strong grasp of mechanical design principles, manufacturing processes, and
    materials.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Great communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
  • A positive, solutions-focused attitude.

Qualifiations

  • Create accurate 2D and 3D drawings for conveyor systems and other industrial
    machinery using SolidWorks and CAD.
  • Interpret concepts, sketches, and specifications to develop manufacturing-ready
    drawings.
  • Prepare and coordinate the transfer of information from Engineering to Material Prep
    to ensure a smooth workflow.
  • Work closely with engineers, project managers, and production staff to ensure
    designs meet technical and safety standards.
  • Revise and update drawings based on feedback, design changes, and production
    needs.
  • Keep drawing files and documentation organized according to company standards.
  • Assist with prototype development and design improvements.
  • Help troubleshoot and solve problems during the manufacturing process.
