Industrial Painter

McDonough Manufacturing is a family-owned manufacturer of custom sawmill machinery with over 130 years of experience, headquartered in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and expanded into Canada in 2017. In 2023, McDonough acquired BID Canada Ltd., a leading company in custom dry bulk material handling solutions. Based in Woodstock, New Brunswick, BID Canada Ltd. designs, manufactures, and installs high-quality equipment for industries including cement, mining, ports, power generation, pulp & paper, and steel. Together, McDonough and BID Canada delivers innovative, in-house solutions to clients across North America and around the world.

McDonough | BID Canada Ltd is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Industrial Painter to join our on-site Production Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing and painting fabricated metal parts, including conveyors and other custom industrial machinery. This role plays a key part in ensuring the final product meets both visual and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, masking, and applying primers.
  • Mix and apply paints, coatings, and finishes using spray guns and other application methods.
  • Inspect painted parts for quality, consistency, and adherence to specifications.
  • Maintain and clean painting equipment and workspace.
  • Follow safety protocols, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Collaborate with fabrication and assembly teams to ensure a timely completion of projects.
  • Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Perform touch-ups and rework as necessary.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience as an industrial or manufacturing painter (preferred in metal fabrication or machinery environments).
  • Ability to use various painting tools and techniques, including HVLP spray guns.
  • Knowledge of paint types, surface prep processes, and finish requirements.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures in a shop setting (OSHA standards, PPE use, etc.).
  • Basic understanding of mechanical components and shop tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
