For our latest Employee Spotlight, we’re getting to know Evan Speer, who recently joined the assembly team at BID Canada.
Evan grew up in Speerville, a small community near Debec, New Brunswick. While he considered his options after high school, he ultimately decided that post-secondary education wasn’t the direction he wanted to take. Instead, he found himself drawn to the trades and the opportunity to work with his hands.
That interest brought him to BID Canada, where he has been working as a general laborer in our assembly department for close to four months. As part of the assembly team, Evan gets to be involved in the hands-on work that goes into bringing our equipment and projects together.
Outside of work, Evan has a number of hobbies, but there’s one in particular where he’s taken things to a pretty impressive level.
He’s an avid gamer, with a particular interest in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, a popular tactical video game that requires teamwork, strategy and some pretty quick thinking. And Evan isn’t just playing for fun. He’s reached the highest rank in the game, placing him among the top 0.02% of players, or roughly the top 2,000 players.
While his work at BID and his gaming interests might seem like two very different things, both give Evan opportunities to keep learning, take on new challenges and develop his skills.
We’re glad Evan has joined the BID team and look forward to seeing him continue to grow in his role. And if we ever need someone to lead us through a game of Rainbow Six Siege, we know who to call!
