Mining

Mining operations depend on reliable material movement. From moving ore and aggregate between processing stages to transferring finished material into storage or transportation systems, material handling equipment needs to perform consistently in demanding environments.

BID Canada designs and manufactures custom bulk material handling equipment for mining and mineral processing applications. Our team collaborates with clients, engineering firms and project partners to tailor equipment around the material being handled. The approach considers the required capacity, site conditions and the overall system layout.

Based in Woodstock, New Brunswick, BID provides engineering, fabrication and material handling expertise for projects across North America.

Bulk Material Handling for Mining Operations

No two mining projects have exactly the same material handling requirements. Material characteristics, tonnage, transfer points, elevation changes, environmental conditions and available space all influence how a system should be designed.

BID works with customers from the early stages of a project through detailed engineering, fabrication and installation.

Additionally, we can provide individual pieces of equipment for an existing operation.

Furthermore, we can also develop multiple components as part of a larger material handling system.

Our mining material handling capabilities include:

  • Belt conveyor systems
  • Custom conveyor structures and supports
  • Transfer conveyors
  • Truck dumpers and receiving systems
  • Chutes and transfer points
  • Bins and hoppers
  • Equipment guarding
  • Structural steel and custom fabrication
  • Replacement and retrofit components
  • Equipment installation and system integration

Conveyor Systems for Mining and Mineral Processing

Conveyors are a critical connection between mining, processing, storage and transportation.

BID designs and manufactures custom conveyor systems based on the requirements of the application rather than relying on a standard configuration. Conveyor length, capacity, belt width, loading conditions, material characteristics, incline and site layout can all be considered during the engineering process.

For new facilities, conveyors can be developed as part of the overall material flow plan. For existing operations, BID can also engineer equipment to integrate with established infrastructure and address specific transfer or capacity requirements.

Alpha Truss Conveyor System

For projects requiring long conveyor runs, BID’s Alpha Truss Conveyor System provides a modular approach to conveyor structure.

The patent-pending system was developed to simplify the engineering and manufacturing of conveyor trusses through standardized modular sections while maintaining the ability to configure the system around individual project requirements.

This approach can be particularly valuable for large bulk material handling projects where conveyor routing, structural requirements and project schedules need to be considered together.

Chutes, Bins and Hoppers

Effective bulk material handling involves more than moving material along a conveyor.

Transfer points, chutes, bins and hoppers influence how material enters, leaves and moves between pieces of equipment. BID designs and fabricates these components around the specific material and application.

Whether the requirement is part of a new system or an upgrade to an existing operation, our engineering and fabrication teams can develop components that integrate with surrounding equipment and structures.

Built for Demanding Industrial Environments

Mining and mineral processing operations place significant demands on material handling equipment.

BID combines in-house engineering with fabrication capabilities at our Woodstock, New Brunswick facility, allowing our team to consider both how equipment needs to perform and how it will be manufactured.

Our approach considers factors including material characteristics, operating capacity, equipment access, maintenance requirements, structural conditions and integration with existing systems.

The result is equipment designed around the realities of the operation rather than a one-size-fits-all solution.

Supporting a Growing Critical Minerals Industry

Minerals and metals are essential to infrastructure, manufacturing, energy systems and modern technology. As investment in critical mineral production and processing continues across Canada and North America, reliable infrastructure will remain an important part of bringing these projects into operation.

Canada’s Critical Minerals Strategy is focused on expanding domestic mineral production and processing and strengthening the infrastructure and supply chains that connect resources to markets.

For BID, that growth aligns closely with what we have been doing for decades: engineering and manufacturing equipment that helps industrial operations move bulk materials safely and efficiently.

From Engineering Through Fabrication

BID can become involved at different stages of a mining or mineral processing project.

We regularly work alongside owners, engineering consultants and other project partners to turn material handling requirements into equipment that can be manufactured, installed and maintained in real operating environments.

Whether the project involves a single conveyor or multiple pieces of an integrated bulk material handling system, our goal is straightforward: understand what needs to move, where it needs to go and what the equipment needs to do to get it there reliably.
